Leah Wild of Lakeside was identified Tuesday as the 14-year-old girl who died Monday in a snowboarding accident at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area.

Wild apparently lost control and went off a run at the edge of a steep bank and hit a tree, according to Flathead County Deputy Coroner Brad Stahlberg. She was wearing a helmet, but died on the mountain from head and internal injuries.

Kalispell Fire Department's ambulance, Lakeside Quick Response Unit and Life Flight helicopter from St. Patrick Hospital responded. Kalispell's ALERT helicopter was undergoing routine maintenance.
