The Board of Glacier Symphony and Chorale announced Tuesday that longtime chorale conductor Shauneen Garner has decided to leave the organization to pursue interests outside the state.

Garner has been with the music organization for almost 25 years, having been instrumental to its formation with her first concert for the organization in 1982.

As chorale conductor, Garner has organized the vocal repertoire for the 70-voice audition-only choir and directed the select chamber choir, the Montanaires. She has taught voice and performance skills to hundreds of children through the children's choir. She also is an accomplished harpist, and also teaches voice and harp.

The Glacier Symphony and Chorale has begun a search to fill Garner's position. Potential candidates need to have experience in the choral art and repertory. The conductor will be responsible for performance preparation, administration and direction, including rehearsals of the chorale from October to April.

The position will begin planning sessions in July. For a complete job description, visit www.glaciersymphonychorale.org.

Applications, cover letters and three references should be mailed to GSC Chorale Conductor Search, P.O. Box 2491, Kalispell, MT 59903.
