Alvin A. 'Al' Larsen, 54, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006.

He was born May 11, 1952, to Alton and Myrtle Larsen in Fargo, N.D. Al attended school in Felton and graduated in 1970 from Glyndon/Felton High School.

Al and Roxanne (Longtine) were married Sept. 10, 1971, in Lake Park, Minn. They were married for 35 years and were true partners in life.

In 1978, the family moved out West to Montana. They lived in the Havre/Chinook area, but home was always the Flathead Valley, and that is where the family settled.

Through the years, Al worked as a rancher, firefighter for the Forest Service, logger and heavy-machine operator. At the present time, he was the owner of his own company, Bad Rock Trucking.

Al had a love for the mountains and horseback riding. He would look forward to those times when he could 'head to the hills' and spend time sitting by a campfire after enjoying the ride on John Henry, his faithful mule.

Family was very important to Al. He was a constant spectator at his grandkids' sporting events. His grandchildren all enjoyed the camping and fishing trips that he took them on. Horseback riding with his family and friends and hunting trips with his son, James, will always be fond memories.

Al leaves behind his loving wife, Roxanne; daughter, Michelle and Tim Peterson; sons, Jeremy, and James and Jessica Larsen; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Nicholas, and Rachel Peterson, and Kobie and Abie Larsen; sisters, Marlys Hicks and Carol Halabrin, both of Minnesota; and a brother, Gene Larsen.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Reid Morgan Peterson Fund at Glacier Bank, or the NRA.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Myrtle Larsen of Felton, Minn.; and his son, Chad Wade Larsen.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls.
