Luminarias light roads two nights

| December 20, 2006 1:00 AM

Several neighborhoods will be illuminating nights with luminarias this weekend. Members of the community are invited to enjoy the candlelit displays.

Friendship House will light its walkways Saturday and Sunday during its eight annual Light the Walk Fundraiser. For $10 each your name or someone's name in memory will be put on a luminaria.

Friendship House, 606 Second Ave. W., near downtown Kalispell is a nonprofit assisted living facility for the elderly and disabled adults. All of Friendship House fundraisers help to provide quality, affordable care.

To buy a luminaria or for more information, call Sherry at 257-8375.

Stillwater Estates will "Light Up The Night" on Saturday. More than 6,000 luminarias will be lighted and ready for the public to see beginning at 5 p.m. The candles should continue to burn into the early morning hours on Christmas Eve.

The neighborhood is just off West Reserve Drive. Turn west onto West Reserve from U.S. 93 and go about a quarter mile. There is a large stone with "Stillwater Estates" in brass lettering on the north side of the road.

Rose Crossing residents and friends will display luminarias on Christmas Eve. There will be 1,500 lit candles on Rose Crossing on the two-mile stretch between U.S. 2 and Whitefish Stage Road. They will be lit by 5 p.m. and will burn through the night.

The public is welcome to drive slowly along the route.
