is accustomed to reports of loose livestock in traffic, such as the horses reported on Berne Road, on Montana 35 in Creston, and on McCaffery Road. More unusual were the large birds reported Wednesday afternoon near Kila. The caller wasn't even sure what they were, first stating they were emus and then speculating that they were very large whooping cranes. At any rate, they flew away.

Threatening calls were reported in Evergreen. Threatening e-mails were reported west of town.

A man reportedly followed a girl on a scooter Thursday morning as she went to Helena Flats School.

Boilers shutting down at the Plum Creek plant in Evergreen made a noise loud enough to make a caller fear there had been an explosion.

There's a suspect or two in the theft of $300 in change from jars in a home.
