George S. McBride, 88

George S. McBride, 88, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

George was born July 25, 1917, in Chicago to George and Laura Eldridge McBride. He was raised in the Chicago area where he attended schools, graduated from high school, and attended the University of Chicago.

George enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1940 to 1945. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, George moved to California in 1946, where he went to work as a PBX repairman for Pacific Bell Telephone. He was a Level 2 supervisor when he retired.

He moved to Montana in 1992, where he had resided every since.

He was a very proud member of the Eagles Lodge, and enjoyed working in his garden, as well as woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; and one brother, Eldridge.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen McBride and his wife, Mary Jane, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Richard McBride of Kalispell; and one brother, Ralph McBride, of Duluth, Minn., four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9, on the third floor of the Eagles Lodge in Kalispell.

The family request memorials be made to the American Lung Association.
