Doris Maureen Kalvig, 67

Doris Maureen Kalvig, 67, of Blackduck, Minn., died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at NPG Samaritan Center in Blackduck.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 6, at Faith Lutheran Church of Blackduck. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.

She was born Jan. 10, 1939, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Louis R. and Elizabeth M. (Otto) Gethmann IV. She was confirmed and baptized in the Methodist faith. She graduated from Kanawha High School in 1956 and from Iowa School of Nursing in 1959.

Doris married Alvin H. Kalvig on Feb. 14, 1959, in Kanawha, Iowa. She lived in Marshalltown in 1939; in Kimbrae, Minn., in 1940; in Gladbrook, Iowa, in 1944; in Kanawha in 1945; in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1956; in West Des Moines in 1959; and in 1973 moved to Blackduck and had lived there since.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting, baking and cooking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by Alvin H. Kalvig of Blackduck; sons, Dwight and Sandy Kalvig of Blackduck, and Kenneth and Rhonda Kalvig of Kalispell; daughters, Dawn Kalvig of Howard Lake, Minn., and Elizabeth Carol of Virginia, Minn.; seven grandchildren; sister, Carol Rosine, of Franklin, Mass.; nephew, David and Karinna Egan of New Haven, Conn.; a niece, Kathleen Egan, of Boston; aunts, Hazel Snider of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Lorraine Otto of Gladbrook, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one godchild, Barbie Reynolds.
