Calling all actors, young and old — the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre invites you to “let yourself go” and audition for “White Christmas” the musical. Students in grades three through 12 and adults of any age may audition for the annual Christmas production.
“White Christmas” is a musical based on the 1954 film. “White Christmas” is adapted for the stage in a musical production that the New York Daily News called “a holiday card come to life!”
Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” tells the story of a song-and-dance team putting on a show in a magical Vermont inn and falling for a stunning sister act in the process; plus dancing, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written. Songs include “White Christmas,” “Let Yourself Go,” “I Love A Piano,” “The Best Things Happen When You’re Dancing,” “Blue Skies” and more.
Auditions for “White Christmas” will be held at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre After-school Arts Center, 833 Grand Ave., Bigfork, on Tuesday, Nov. 14. Grades 3 and 4 will audition from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.; from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for grades 5, 6 and 7; and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for grades 8 and older, including adults.
This production calls for a medium-sized cast and costs nothing to audition. There is a $40 fee to participate in the production if cast in the show. Actors interested in auditioning should prepare a 30-second monologue or selection from another play or book, and plan to learn and sing something and learn a quick dance move or two at the audition. If you don’t have experience or can’t find something to prepare, BPCT will have materials at the Center available.
The rehearsal schedule is yet to be determined. Performances are Dec 8, 9, 15, 16 and 17.
BPCT needs help with the technical assistance for the production, too. Parental and student assistance is welcome.
