Judy G. Atlee, 80, died suddenly and unexpectedly of heart failure at Kalispell Regional Hospital on March 29, 2019.
She was born on March 7, 1939, in Deadwood, South Dakota, the daughter of Alvanah M. Napier and Floyd I. Jolly.
Judy was raised in Tigard, Oregon, where she graduated from high school in 1957. She worked her early years in retail, then became the bookkeeper for these retail outlets.
On Sept. 24, 1960 she married Ralph Grant Atlee in Beaverton, Oregon. They were married in spirit for 58 years.
Judy truly enjoyed her family gatherings, her pets, cooking, camping, fishing and traveling throughout the state of Montana with Ralph visiting ghost towns. She was an extremely creative person and painter. The family located paintings she had been painting for them. She painted as long as her eyesight allowed and had to stop in 2005 due to deteriorating vision.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 2004; her parents; and siblings Donna, Jeanine, Bonnie and Danny.
Judy is survived by her children, Dana and Royce Honstain of Seattle, Mark Atlee of California, Erica and Chad Potts of Bigfork, Dara Mellem of Utah, Kirk and Tonya Atlee, Marcy and Rod Kuntz, all of Kalispell.
She is also survived by her grandchildren who made her extremely proud: Daria and Jordan Nieman, Brenna Honstain, Cassandrah and Austin Williamson, Justin and Rylee Kuntz, Devin and Jin Kuntz, Taalyr and Spencer Claridge, Tyler Mellum, Shayna Atlee, Hannah Atlee, Alivia Atlee and Zachary Atlee. She is also survived by her “great” grandchildren, Hubbell Nieman, Gaibryl Kuntz, Patience Kuntz, Javen Kuntz, Alaina Kuntz, Emmah Claridge, Wesley Kuntz, Leopold Claridge and Lennon Williamson.
Cremation has taken place. Judy and Ralph requested to be together and the family celebrate together at Howard Lake, which was their most favorite camping spot. This will occur in September. Our parents; “gramp’s and granny” are finally together forever. While not physically here they are with all of us forever.
