| May 28, 2020 1:00 AM

Betty Lou Deist Muender (nee: Paolini) peacefully passed away on Monday, Sept., 25, 2019, surrounded by loved ones.

Betty Lou was born in Eureka on Nov. 8, 1937 to Daniel and Opal Paolini, growing up alongside her sister Cheryl and brother Danny Keith.

After graduating high school in Whitefish, Betty Lou married Robert Deist of Kalispell in 1954 and had a daughter, Deborah. Their family was well-known in the Flathead Valley as the owners of the BD Quarter Circle ranch, where they raised cattle. Robert passed away in 2000.

A longtime fixture in Kalispell, Betty Lou started her professional career as a bookkeeper at Kalispell Rexall Drug followed by the drive-through supervisor at Conrad Bank (later First Interstate Bank). She later took a position as Personnel Director at Family Health Care where she worked until her retirement in 2001.

An avid traveler and social butterfly, Betty Lou visited various countries and cities around the United States throughout her life and enjoyed winters in Arizona with her second husband, Mel Muender from Whitefish. Melvin preceded her in death Nov. 5, 2018.

More than anything, Betty Lou loved spending time with her family (daughter Debbie and her husband Rudy of Bigfork, and granddaughters Andrea and Julie), joining them at the movies or on one of the many trips they took throughout the years. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, sense of humor and dazzling looks. At this time, the family is postponing services until a later date.
