A pair of area standout wrestlers, Hank Dunn of Eureka and Trey Thompson of Libby, earned Blewett Scholarships for the coming college school year.

Thompson is a two-time state placer that placed second this past February at the State A meet. He earned a 4.7 grade-point average at Libby and was valedictorian of his class.

Thompson is an accomplished musician who will attend Montana State University to study computer science.

Dunn capped off his career with a B-C title in February after finishing fourth as a freshman, second as a sophomore and third as a junior. The 4.0 student and class valedictorian is headed to Yakima (Wash.) Valley College to study physical therapy and play baseball.

John Mears of Belgrade was the AA winner – he was in line for a fourth straight individual title before injuries forced him to miss his senior season. A 4.0 student, Mears plans to play football at Montana-Western and study physical education.

It is the 14th year that Zander Blewitt III out of Great Falls has offered three $1,000 scholarships to wrestlers in Montana.

“We love wrestling for the life lessons it teaches and these kids embody what this great sport is all about,” Blewett said in a release.

Blewett also offers $500 wrestling scholarships to several high schools in North-Central Montana. For more information regarding the scholarship visit http://www.hoytblewett.com/blewett-wrestling-scholarship.
