No. 26908 Conrad Mansion Montana Historic Preservation Grant - The Conrad Mansion Museum Board applied for the Historic Preservation Grant Program requesting $36,000 for the purpose of replacing and updating the electrical system at the Conrad Mansion. The electrical system needs to be replaced to meet current fire code requirements ensuring the safety of staff, visitors, and the collection when in the building. A public hearing to solicit comments for the aforementioned project in accordance with the Montana Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) has been scheduled for the April 6, 2020 City of Kalispell Council meeting. All interested persons will be given the opportunity to express opinions regarding the proposed project and any environmental impacts. It is expected that the proposed project is exempt under Montana ARM 8.2.304(5), as the project includes minor repairs, operations, or maintenance of existing equipment or facilities and will not have the potential for causing a significant effect on the quality of the human environment; potential public controversy over the project' possible effect on the quality of the human environment; and potential to affect sensitive environmental or cultural resource areas or endangered or threatened species and their critical habitats. The Montana Historic Preservation Grant (MHPG) Program is a state-funded program created in 2019 as a result of Senate Bill 338, Sections 1 through 17. The MHPG Program is designed to support public or private entities with the preservation of historic sites, historical societies, or history museums through grant funding. These improvements are part of a larger heating and cooling upgrade to protect the collection and the historical building, and provide a comfortable atmosphere for staff and visitors.
