Gateway Community Center closed to the public

| March 23, 2020 3:00 PM

The Gateway Community Center in Kalispell is closed to the public until further notice in an effort to halt the spread of coronavirus.

In a letter to tenants, Northwest Montana United Way leadership wrote, “it became apparent that it was simply too difficult for us to sanitize and maintain the public spaces in an acceptable way as it became necessary for our volunteers and Experience Works employees to stay home. It is unfortunate, but necessary to limit the number of people in the building for the health and safety of the people who work here.”

United Way owns the majority of the center and leases space to various nonprofit organizations in Flathead Valley. While most of the common area is now closed, there is one entrance at the south end of the building that will remain open for TTEC employees.

A barrier has been placed between this entry point and the rest of the building.

According to the letter to building tenants, United Way’s office will remain open and will keep the same scheduled hours of Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m to 1 p.m.

Individuals should call a specific nonprofit located in the center if they need assistance or information. Although the center itself is closed, many of the building tenants, such as the Flathead Food Bank, are still providing services at this time.
