Ronald Dean Skare, 85

Ronald Dean Skare, 85, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.

Ronald was born Feb. 5, 1935, in Fairdale, North Dakota, to Ingvald and Amanda (Lofgren) Skare. He was raised in the Flathead Valley and attended Flathead County High School. After joining the Navy on Oct. 2, 1952, he was honorably discharged on Feb. 4, 1956.

Ron married Joan Schroeder on Oct. 7, 1956, in Kalispell where they raised their two daughters Debbie and Geri.

Ronald enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, watching football and spending his time with friends and family. Ron worked for Flathead County Road and Bridge until he retired in 1997. He was also a proud Eagles member for over 40 years.

Ronald was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Joan Skare; his parents, Ingvald and Amanda Skare; his brother, Allen Skare; and son-in-law, Don Wilson.

Ronald is survived by his daughters, Geri Hearn (Dan) and Debbie Wilson; his sister, Rozella Cuffin; grandchildren, Rhonda Palmer (Don), Melissa DeBruycker (Cameron), Brandon Stem, Steven Stem and Sarah Wilson; his great grandchildren, Natalie DeBruycker, Kinsley DeBruycker, Gavin DeBruycker, Steven Stem Jr., Miah Stem and Alec Wilson; and his great-great-grandchild, Nova Stem.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with interment following at Glacier Memorial Gardens.

The family wishes to thank all the nurses and staff at the Veterans Home in Columbia Falls that cared so deeply for him and his family in his last days.
