Dorothy Alettie Granfor Robison, 97

| March 12, 2020 1:00 AM

Dorothy, a longtime resident of the Flathead Valley, died Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Dorothy was born in Dunn Center, North Dakota, on Jan. 15, 1923, to Maurice and Bernice Granfor, the first of seven children. Her early education was spent in a country school, then on to high school in town. She often told of riding a horse to school, even in the winter.

Dorothy married Glenn Robison on Sept. 25, 1943. Together they had six children. They found time to square dance and she continued to line dance after Glenn was gone. Books were a constant companion of Dorothy, at the time of her death she was re-reading “War and Peace.” She took college classes even after retirement; she loved to learn. Painting was also a passion. How lucky are we to have a piece of her artwork.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, sons Gary and Charles, grandsons, Mark, Morgan and Mason, and four sisters, Hazel, Lorna, Shirley and Georgia.

She is survived by sons Ryan (Beverly) of Kalispell, Ron (Nancy) of Columbia Falls and Richard of Spokane, and a daughter, Lyla of Sunburst, Montana, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be announced at a later date.
