Flathead wrestlers 3-0 at Capital City Duals

HELENA — The Flathead Braves wrestling team went 3-0 on Saturday at the Capital City Duals at Helena Capital.

The Braves won a tie-breaker over Missoula Big Sky 32-31 by virtue of having more pins than the Eagles.

Fin Nadeau, Asher Kemppainen, Brendan Barnes and freshman Cade Troupe went undefeated in the first weekend of wrestling season.

“It was fun watching our young team build some confidence throughout the weekend,” Flathead coach Jeff Thompson said. “It’s going to be a great year for the Brave Brawlers.”

Glacier

HELENA — The Glacier Wolfpack was 2-1 at the Capital City Duals on Saturday.

Glacier lost its match to Helena Capital 33-30 but beat Bozeman and Helena High handily.

“We saw a good mix of our young guys stepping up and competing hard, giving a great effort for the team and our older more experienced guys going out and being the pace setters,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said. “It’s always exciting to see where we stack up early and we can start to set some goals and really focus on our plan.”

Dankers added that Camryn Vergeront, Kael Willis, and Teegan Vasquez had an outstanding week and were 4-0 against some tough competition.
