LIBBY — The Glacier Twins downed the Mission Valley Mariners 5-0 in the West A District American Legion baseball tournament championship on Sunday afternoon.

Glacier led 2-0 after five innings, then tallied three more runs in the sixth.

The Twins racked up 12 hits with Jack Schwaiger, Zach Veneman, Coby Clark-Dickinson, Austyn Andrachick and Jay Tyree with two each. Veneman, Clark-Dickinson and Tyree each had doubles and Veneman had two RBI.

Meanwhile, Nathan Hader and Jay Tyree held the Mariners to just two hits.

The Mariners who had hits were Eric Dolence and Dawson Dumont.

Hader was the winner, lasting five and one-third innings. He gave up two hits and struck out six.

Loser Out

Twins 4, Red Sox 1

The Twins dumped the Bitterroot Red Sox 4-1 in Sunday morning’s loser out contest.

The game was hard-fought and tight. Bitterroot scored one run in the fifth. The Twins tied it up in the sixth when they scored on a Red Sox error.

That’s the way it stayed until the top of the ninth when Jack Price singled on a 1-2 count to score one run. The Twins then added two more for insurance.

Forrest Kobelt was 2-for-4 in that game with a double and an RBI.
