^Former Bucs RB Warrick Dunn surprises single mother with new home<

FBN-BUCS-DUNN-HOME-SPORTSPLUS:PT _ LaToya Reedy always dreamed of being a homeowner but it seemed unattainable.

As a single mother to her 18-year-old son, AnTrez, Reedy worked hard as a certified nursing assistant to provide a stable lifestyle for him, but the unpredictability of renting kept her living paycheck to paycheck.

The constant increases in rent forced Reedy and her son to move into a tight, overcrowded living space with her mother.

But on Tuesday morning her dream came true.

Day, 27, was surrounded by his family, trainer Joe Higgins and close friends, DiBella said.

Day, a world-rated junior middleweight, was knocked out in the 10th round of a USBA title fight by Charles Conwell at Wintrust Arena.

^'We're coming for you. We're coming to help these young athletes': Romney warns NCAA<

FBC-BKC-ROMNEY-NCAA:WA _ Republican Sen. Mitt Romney issued a stern warning to the NCAA on Wednesday over its treatment of college athletes.

"I know there are people who think we can hold this off," Romney said. "We're not going to make a change here. But the reality is Congress is going to act.

"We're coming for you," he said. "We're coming to help these young athletes in the future, and the athletes of today, make sure that they don't have to sacrifice their time and sacrifice, in many cases, their bodies without being fairly compensated."

^Bill Plaschke: Hiring calm, cerebral Joe Maddon as manager was ideal for Angels team in turmoil<

BBA-PLASCHKE-COLUMN:LA _ A baseball team desperately in need of a baseball story has smartly hired one.

His name is Joe Maddon, and he can't put on that halo soon enough.

The Angels hired Maddon as their manager Wednesday in a move that should calm a few nerves, restore a little hope, and at least temporarily slow the ugliest of narratives.

A team mired in a drug scandal has brought home a former longtime employee who helped lead them to their only World Series championship.

A team that has been to the playoffs only once in the last 10 years has brought in the guy who managed the Chicago Cubs out of that infamous 108-year title drought.

A team in turmoil has hired the epitome of calm.

^Michael Cunningham: Why Falcons won't be fourth 1-5 team to recover and make NFL playoffs<

FBN-CUNNINGHAM-COLUMN:AT _ The Falcons are 1-5. That's a lot to overcome even in the NFL, where parity is engineered so that mediocre teams can get lucky and sneak into the playoffs. It's not impossible. The 1970 Bengals, 2015 Chiefs and 2018 Colts are the three teams to start 1-5 and qualify for the postseason in the post-merger NFL.

The Falcons won't become the fourth team to do it. Throw out the 1970 Bengals, who played in a different era, and compare the Falcons with the 2015 Chiefs (11-5 finish) and 2018 Colts (10-6).

^FBN-KELLY-COLUMN:FL_

McMillan, a 2017 second-round pick the Dolphins needed to see develop, is blossoming under new coaches and thriving in a scheme most critics doubted the linebacker would fit in.

Biegel, a linebacker the Dolphins traded for days before the season opener, has exhibited the type of energy and effort Miami's coaches want from the entire roster. And as a result, his playing time and role continues to increase.

^Mike Preston: Can Ravens QB Lamar Jackson hold up at this pace for the rest of the season?<

FBN-PRESTON-COLUMN:BZ _ Every time Lamar Jackson turns a corner at the line of scrimmage and exposes his body, the Ravens hold their collective breath. And when he rises from the turf for another play, there is one big exhale.

He survived.

It's not that dramatic on the field on Sunday afternoons, but the Ravens know they are rolling the dice with Jackson as their running quarterback. Coach John Harbaugh will pretend that he isn't too concerned because the organization has committed to Jackson.

So, it comes down to fate.

^Bob Ford: Are the Eagles on the way to becoming the Phillies?<

FBN-FORD-COLUMN:PH _ The team started the season with high expectations. Most fans agreed that a division title was the lowest bar it would clear. But expectations are not guarantees.

Some players under-performed, or at least failed to progress, and then a devastating series of injuries lowered the talent level ever further, making every game a difficult path to navigate successfully.

That is the story of the 2019 Phillies.

That story might also become the story of the 2019 Eagles.

FBN-BROWNS-WILLLIAMS:AK _ If the Browns don't trade for Washington seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams, it won't be because they didn't explore the possibility.

Browns General Manager John Dorsey made that much clear Wednesday without mentioning Williams by name because of the NFL's anti-tampering rules.

^Jaguars' Tom Coughlin says trading Jalen Ramsey was in best interest of franchise<

FBN-JAGUARS-COUGHLIN-RAMSEY:JK _ Jaguars top executive Tom Coughlin said trading disgruntled cornerback Jalen Ramsey was in the best interest of the franchise.

The Jaguars sent Ramsey to the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday night in exchange for first-round picks in 2020 and 2021 and a 2021 fourth-round pick. Ramsey wanted out of Jacksonville after making a trade request a month ago.

"Given the situation with Jalen, we made this decision based on what we thought is in the best interest of the Jacksonville Jaguars, for this season and well into the future," Coughlin said in a statement released by the franchise Wednesday morning.

All indications are that Trubisky will start if he suffers no setbacks or significant discomfort during or after three full-speed practices Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

And now the Miami Dolphins are making another change at quarterback.

Fitzpatrick will start ahead of Josh Rosen for Miami in this Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills (4-1), Dolphins coach Brian Flores said on Wednesday.

Fitzpatrick says this season has been a "roller-coaster" but he is excited to get his second chance to lead the Dolphins. His promotion comes on the heels of almost leading Miami to a comeback win during the fourth quarter of last Sunday's loss to the Redskins (1-5).

^Mike Preston: Ravens' gamble with Marcus Peters is worth risk<

FBN-PRESTON-COLUMN:BZ _ The Ravens are gambling by trading for disgruntled cornerback Marcus Peters but it is a small risk compared with when teams usually acquire playmakers.

The Ravens have been void of these types of players for almost 12 years when they parted with Ray Lewis, Bernard Pollard, Ed Reed and Anquan Boldin. That's the main reason they've only been to the playoffs twice since 2012.

You may not like Peters and the baggage he carries around, but unless he signs a long-term deal then the Ravens are basically renting him for 10 games. That's a good bargain, despite the troubling signs.

But Tyler Herro as Klay Thompson? That's where the brakes were applied Wednesday after practice at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Tuesday, in a report for heavy.com, veteran NBA reporter Sean Deveney wrote of the thoughts of one NBA general manager on Herro, "They've been firm on him and (Bam) Adebayo being untouchable. ^Brendan Marks: After two wins in four races, is Kevin Harvick truly a NASCAR championship contender?<

^CAR-MARKS-COLUMN:CH_

Really, you can't talk about this year without acknowledging what he did last season. Harvick tied for a Cup Series-high eight victories in 2018 and advanced all the way to the championship race, coming up short behind Joey Logano. Still, he more than earned his place in the sport's "Big 3" alongside Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch.

So coming into 2019, even as Ford debuted a new Mustang and NASCAR significantly altered its rules package, the assumption was _ rightly or not _ that he would just pick up where he left off.
