Man asking for money causes concern at school

A school on U.S. 2 went into informal lockdown Monday after reporting a suspicious man to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. The man walked into the school asking for $10 and offering to leave something for collateral. The man, who said he was from Marion and going to a job interview north of town, then left, slightly upset because no one would give him the money. During the lockdown, doors to classrooms were locked but students were allowed to use the restroom.

Several older teenage boys were reported shooting at birds from a balcony on Electric Avenue in Bigfork.

A pair of concerned residents reported a possible cat hoarder on Fairmont Road.

The landlord of a North Hilltop Road property in Columbia Falls reported their past renter destroyed the unit.

A U.S. 93 South man in Kalispell reported finding drug paraphernalia in his wife’s closet.

A Panoramic Drive boy reported his iPod Touch was stolen a year ago, which he had just discovered.

Someone apparently hit the jackpot, but had to break the law to do it. The burglar reportedly stole $4,000 from an unlocked vehicle on Cloverleaf Drive.

Someone tried to burglarize a maintenance shed on Vista Lane in Bigfork, from which shovels and other items had been stolen in the past.

Someone broke a window of a vehicle on Whalebone Drive and stole items from inside.

A Fourth Avenue West resident contacted the Kalispell Police Department after receiving a call from a supposed police officer in New York City demanding $2,800 for an accident the resident’s nephew was in. This type of call is a common scam.

Someone tried to break into a greenhouse on a Conway Drive property.

A man was seen throwing a rock at the window of a car in a parking lot.

The Whitefish Police Department received a report of two elderly women in a fist fight over a cookie while riding a bus on Baker Avenue.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a person in possession of dangerous drugs while assisting another agency on Monday.
