Nova Arlyne Gottschalk, 84, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

Arlyne was born on Aug. 17, 1933, to Walter and Bertha (Croghan) Robblee in Palermo, California. Arlyne completed school through the 10th grade as a youth, but later went on to complete her GED as an adult, scoring in the top 5th percentile in Marin County, California.

She worked as a fitness instructor for Vic Tanny’s in California, and as a singing cocktail waitress for Kirby’s Restaurant and finally as a customer representative for the telephone company in California. Arlyne volunteered for several organizations throughout her life, including Kalispell Regional Medical Center for eight years. She also picked up trash throughout the community.

Arlyne had many hobbies. She enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking, golf and playing bridge, cribbage and Scrabble. She loved baking cakes for everyone at Spencer & Company where she and Lou spent almost every Friday night from the second day they opened, more then 25 years ago.

Arlyne was preceded in death by her husband Lou Gottschalk who passed on Feb. 2, 2018; parents, Walter and Bertha Robblee; and eight older brothers and sisters.

Arlyne is survived by her daughters, Lisa Gottschalk of California, Susan Brossard of Idaho, and Lynne Fernandez of Tennessee; her son, John Fernandez, of Oregon; and her daughter, Marie Oswood, of California; grandchildren, Anthony Moore Jr. of Arizona, Seth and wife Holly Foster of Montana, Kassie Rinearson of Arkansas and Victoria Oswood of California; and great- grandchildren, Peyton, Jackson and Alexis Foster, all of Montana.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Flathead Valley Food Bank or the Flathead Valley Animal Shelter. Friends are encouraged to send notes of condolence to the family at www.buffalohillfh.com. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
