Even though opponents — and supporters, for the first time in force — were just as vocal as ever, fears of overbearing growth at Kalispell City Airport got a breather Tuesday night.

Kalispell Planning Board members tabled a discussion on whether to extend airport boundaries until after a Nov. 30 town hall meeting.

Mayor Pam Kennedy told the poeple of Kalispell (before the election) becouse of the out cry of the City residents againced the expanded airport was making her look bad, that there will be informational meetings on this matter. I would like you to know what that means.... ( We are going to tell you what's going on at the airport and how we are going to do it, regardles of what you people want.) The city manager anounced at the Kalispell Planning board that the Mayor and City Council Members are going to vote this Monday on what firm is going to do the new E.A. of the airport. (at taxpayer costs of 10 to 15 thousand dollars or more )The only reason to do a new E.A. is to get F.A.A. funding to expand the runway and airport. I was told today by the city attorney, Mr. Harball that it was required to redo a E.A. regardles of if we wanted F.A.A. funding or not every five years. That is faults information, but they sure put a lot of that out there, years ago we called it lieing. Just like the Kalispell Planning Board meeting, the Mayor should have informed the Planning Board that there was a change of plans and to cancel the Attempt by Airport Manager Mr.Fred Laskio to sell a plan to expand the city airport. But you notice they didn't. So they did that and now there going to vote on a new E.A. to continue the expansion of the airport. All the time there planning to hold meeting for the people of Kalispell on this matter. I asked Mr. Harball ( our City Attorney )about this up coming November 30th. Meeting. How is it going to be conducted? He said it will be less than 2 hours, and people will be able to ask questions about the airport. I said have you not heard the people for the last 6 months, at all the council meetings , news papers, TV.? I asked will they answer the questions, he said NO. They will answer them at the next meeting. I asked by who? who will answer the people questions? Get this Folks... By the people who are involved in the E.A., you know the people that want to build this expanded airport. This is so unbeliveable that this City goverment and it's employees of the people are doing this. I'm looking forward to the next line they want to lay on us. People call them, the Mayor, the City Council members and tell them to stop lieing to the people. Do what the Planning Board did! Table this E.A. vote until after the meetings, and tell them they are the one's that need to be asking the questions to the people, and giving truthful answers when asked a question. I feel sorry for our New City Manager having to deal with these people, hope the new Mayor and the City Council will follow the rules.

Maybe instead of spending all that money on the airport - they could repave my sidewalk. It is horrid. They used to use increment money for that.

In my opinion talking with the planning board is a complete waste of time, they are not going to listen to anyone, they are just going through the motions to keep the process "legal". Quiet Skies needs to start the lawsuit right now if they really want a chance at stopping this ridiculous expansion. All tax payers will pay the price for a small group of elitists to be able to have fun and play with their air toys, good grief! If the city is interested in making more money (to help balance the budget) they should be looking at the prospect of putting in a huge (indoor) mall on that property. Call Bucky!!
