United States Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood was in Apgar Monday to announce that Glacier National Park will receive a $250,000 grant to purchase new buses for the park’s free shuttle system.

LaHood was at the Apgar Transit Center along with Federal Transit Administration Administrator Peter Rogoff to make the announcement.

watthe, you are assuming that federal programs have a budget in the first place.

whatthe, couldn't agree more. Not to mention the LaHood's opportunity cost of time. He comes all the way out here to announce $250K. With all of the problems in D.C. he should stay put to concentrate on cutting fat or figuring out what ROI means.

It probably cost as much to bring the Secretary out here as he awarded the park to buy two busses.

Grant money is not free. Grant money a lot of times means you paid to much taxes and need to give your money away to programs who should have budgeted for it in the first place!

The Federal Government awarding itself a grant is a shame and a sham!
