Colleagues, school board members and even the mayor of Cle Elum, Wash., describe Kalispell Public Schools superintendent finalist Mark Flatau as a man of integrity who leads by example and empowers others to excel.

Flatau’s virtues likely were reiterated last week by the Cle Elum community when Kalispell school board trustees Joe Brenneman and Jack Fallon visited the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District where Flatau has been superintendent for nine years.

            I am glad Schottle is gone, she did run this district into the ground, you parents seem blind to the fact, there is a lot more that goes into running a school district than the education your children get. Schottle might have done great with kids, but she was horrible at her fiscal responsibilities, she made many mistakes that cost us a ton of money. To be a good super, you need to be more than just an educator, you need to be a good business administrator, which she was NOT!

            @supportstheirowninterests,
            The only problem I have is how as Montana Native stated that Schottle has run this district into the ground. My kids had great learning experiences in this district through ninth grade. It was when they entered Flathead high School that that changed. My first two kids had to deal with Callie Langhor and Mark Dennehy and my last one had to deal with Peter Fusaro and Frank Jobe. My kids never had any disciplinary problems and were all good student and decent athletes. By the time they graduated they were done with competitive sports even though two of them had offers from colleges to play for them. Darlene Schottle lost control of these high school administrators a long time ago and they now are free to do what they pretty much want. Most people I know whose kids have graduated from high school here in the last 10 years have the same feeling I do and that is we are done with it, until things change in this district we will not support any more funding at the high school level.
            I can tell by your posts that you are associated with the district, and I have a pretty good idea as to who you are so I know your views are tainted. All I can say is that if Mr. Flatau has half the integrity that we are being led to believe that he has the administrators at the two high schools are in for a shock. It is truly my hope that Mr. Flatau is that person.

            Can't believe schottle is gone! Am I dreaming? This is almost as good as winning the lottery. Schottle was running this district into the ground. Good riddance.

            Really, I suppose you think it is easy to be the leader of so many people. Jesus Christ himself would have have neigh sayers in such a position. This job is extremely difficult and Ms. Schottle has served the district well. AJ your comments are always so negative about sports, admin, life in general. What is your problem? It is really sad [sad]

            Mr. Flatau sounds like a breath of fresh air compared to what has occurred in the Kalispell schools over the past 10 years. All I can say is welcome to Mr. Flatau and to Darlene Schottle don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out, good riddance.
