“Love is in the Air,” a variety show fundraiser for the Ecuador mission trip, will be at 7 p.m. Friday — Valentine’s Day — at Christ Lutheran Church, 5150 River Lakes Parkway in Whitefish. A free-will offering will be taken at the door.
Cathy Relf, who is co-producing the show with Patty Markuson, said “Love is in the Air” is a spin-off of the popular “Christmas is in the Air” show that raised money for Shepherd’s Hand Clinic for many years.
A raffle drawing for an original Rob Akey painting of the Flathead River at Bad Rock Canyon also will be held at the variety show. Tickets are $10 and may still be purchased by calling 862-2615 or 212-9973.
All proceeds from the show and drawing will be used to help cover in-country costs such as food and transportation while the team is in Ecuador. The 25 team members are paying for their own flights to and from Ecuador.

For the fifth time in 11 years, a local group of volunteers is heading to Ecuador to offer medical and dental services and other assistance for some of the South American country’s poorest residents.
A majority of the volunteers are members of Christ Lutheran Church in Whitefish. They include three physicians, a medical student, several nurses, two dentists and a dental assistant. While the medical team focuses on acute needs such as parasitic diseases and respiratory illnesses, other volunteers will lend their expertise in a wide variety of other services.
