A 30-year-old Lakeside man was given a six-year deferred sentence March 7 after pleading guilty to a charge of felony criminal endangerment.

Auldin Peek was found May 21, 2012, in his vehicle with his four children — a 7-year-old, a 6-year-old and 3-year-old twins — in the parking lot of Cattleman’s Bar, slumped over in the front seat with the vehicle still running after having injected himself with heroin.

Ok. I know who Peek is but I still am confused what you mean by Freaky Friday?

rivergal, my bad; I'm sure you would happily trade places with Peek. Maybe a new twist on "Freaky Friday"?[beam]

well, the incident did take place a little less than a year ago- hopefully he is back on the straight and narrow, working for a better future for his kids.

Fountain of Truth, you are judging a situation incorrectly. I was on the West Shore Road of Hungry Horse Resevoir and had full view of the empty road and was probably going 12 mph. A second deer popped up from the other side and while using my brakes the washboard took over and I went 75 feet down the embankment. I would have hit the second deer if the washboard hadn't taken over. Spent the night in my car. I did not put anyone else in danger. I was going so slow my airbags didn't even deploy. Oh..and by the way I escaped that accident uninjured. The point I was trying to make and perhaps was missunderstood is that this accident and the consequences compared to what this guy has done do not add up to me.

CPS doesn't always go by the facts. They can choose which way to go and aren't always right. To know this you would have to be personally involved with someone who has been the subject of a witch hunt. We know one really messed up young adult whose life was ruined by official meddling. Bad, bad mistakes can be made when they fail to conduct a well rounded investigation. They jump on one side and just go. They don't even allow one to face his accuser and defend himself against vindictive lies.
I don't hold out much hope for anyone's future when CPS gets involved, Dolphin.

I would hope (since they didn't mention this), that he no longer is allowed near his kids. I mean, abuse (of course dropped so it didn't officially happen), alcohol and drugs (but no DUI), and just being an all around bad guy should be just about enough to lose ones kids, right?

Looks like another classic case of CPS giving kids back to someone they shouldn't have.....

What a dirt bag! I cannot understand how anyone would put thier children at risk like that. It is heartbreaking that so many good hardworking people struggle to have children, yet for some reason POS's like this guy seem to pop them out on command. He needs to go away for a long time, not have a suspeneded sentence. Now he is out on the roads putting his kids and all of us in danger.

rivergal: When you swerved, you risked losing control of your vehicle putting others at risk as well as yourself; hence the careless driving ticket. I would hope your problems pale in comparison to this cretin's.

There aren't any penalties anymore to deter a person from making bad choices. The consequences just aren't severe enough. Probation isn't much of a threat. The prisons are too full to handle more and we don't have the money to build more. We'd rather spend money on schools but instead of doing that we pump billions a day into other countries.
The entire situation is hopeless. Nowadays there isn't even anybody you can trust your vote to, they promise to make it better but they can't, who are they kidding.

Stunned...just stunned. I am a law abiding citizen, have car insurance, swerved to miss a deer and got a careless driving ticket for not hitting the deer and wrecking my car. (I've been driving for 40 years without ever having an accident) Consequences, higher insurance rate and a ticket on my driving report. The price I am paying for a misshap is higher than this crap??? I don't get it at all.

So, What exactly do you have to do to NOT get a suspended sentence in this valley?
