The man shot and killed in Marion early Sunday has been identified by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office as 60-year-old Harold Gordon.

The shooting occurred at about 1:45 a.m. outside a duplex owned by Gordon, who lived in one of the units while the wife of the alleged shooter, 52-year-old Mark Ames, lived in the residence next door.

Marion, MT Deliberate Homicide Suspect May Not Have Right To Use State Of Washington Restraining Order As Part Of Local Defense Strategy in Montana Court..
            ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — An apparent feud between two men came to an end in northwestern Montana with one man suspected of shooting the other.

Flathead County officials identified the victim of the weekend shooting as 60-year-old Harold Gordon. Officers arrested 52-year-old Mark Bolton Ames on suspicion of deliberate homicide. No charges were filed Monday.

The shooting happened at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday outside a duplex in Marion, where Gordon lived in one unit and Ames' estranged wife in the other.

Investigators say Ames fired several rounds from an AK-47 into Gordon's apartment. Undersheriff Dave Leib said Gordon reportedly came outside with a shotgun and Ames shot him with a handgun.

Leib says the men had a history of altercations. He said Gordon had a restraining order against Ames in Montana and Ames had one against Gordon in Washington state.

One of the sad things about this, is the NRA has not even said anything about this shooting, but because of the bias of others, they have been brought into this discussion.

Simply said, two people had a pissing match and one shot the other, they were both armed and both had lethal intent.

The NRA is not part of this, they have not condemned and they have not condoned this incident and should not be part of the discussion, two ARMED individuals had a fight, one lost his life, one lost his freedom, it has happened many times over the years, even before the NRA existed.

Cordwood, it's not a fact that the NRA uses the stock argument after every shooting. Second, Progressives& thinkers is an oxymoron.

Mtdawg, not sure about your IQ, but the shooter is a doctor..

cordwood- Let me get this straight - your saying that there are 5 generations of you guys driving us mad???

Good for you and your family heritage. I'm not from here, but I am a proud american. I have family buried in Arlington national cemetery, and some of the oldest cemetery's in the U.S. - So, as I see it, my family has been in the U.S. longer than yours, and have served this country in a greater capacity than yours, which trumps your claims- I'm not going anywhere. Deal with it.

The fact is that the NRA, after each shooting that garners national attention, issues their stock (pardon the pun) statement saying that if the victim(s) had been armed, they would have been safe. It is their answer to all shootings.

Volunteer fireman (if you really are one, good for you): this particular lib has relatives in the Demersville cemetery and at this moment in time five generations of family living here in the valley. Everyone of voting age a proud progressive thinker. We were here before you and we'll be here forever. Deal with it.

Nice job Cordwood. It's fun watching all these self-rightious, hyper-sensitive conservatives getting their panties all bunched up, they are so easily offended. Conservative political correctness can be entertaining.

Mtdawg, with a comment like this it shows who has a low IQ (Who cares. It's marion. Every time these lowlifes kill one another the collective IQ for the rest of the county goes up a couple of points) we have good families here Marion, hard working families. You should try to take a look at yourself with comments like this crawl back under the rock you came from.

I want everyone to remember we have little kids here in Marion and the violence that has gone on the last 6 months directly effects them.

The current code of the NRA was updated recently due to their support for the Stand Your Ground rulings. I am sure the Flathead County Prosecutor Ed Corrigan will agree and plea bargain with the victim's family to settle this without trial and reduce this to a negligent manslaughter for 3 years. It just wouldn't be prudent to think otherwise due to a lack of prison space.

Get a clue Cordwood. You obviously have no idea what the NRA stands for or what they are trying to protect.

Figures, you guys have no understanding of people, they were not irresponsible, they were irrational! it does not take a gun to solve a neighborhood dispute. People kill people all of the time and it does not take a gun!

Geeze, where did all of the liberals in Montana come from, you guys need to get over it or move, we have one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the country, heck even the supreme court said Chicago can't ban guns any longer, to bad we have that document call the Bill Of Rights. So just get over it.

Agree cordwood. Chalk one more up to the NRA and irresponsible gun owners. They go hand in hand.

No it doesn't, it shows that irrational people still act irrationally, if they had a long running fight going on, it would not have mattered what weapon was involved, somebody would have got hurt or killed. As they were both armed it seems as if they were willing to kill each other.

As I said, this is not an NRA issue, and really if you want someone to blame, blame the Supreme court, they are the ones that have upheld the right to keep and bear arms and after what congress and the president were able to accomplish last year over guns, it seems the people are on the side of owning guns as well, if you don't want a gun, then don't buy one, the rest of us will make that choice for ourselves.

just sayin - the NRA believes that if everyone is armed, everyone is safe. This, again, proves them wrong.

NRA has nothing to do with this cordwood, it is very unfortunate when somebody is killed, but until such time as all of the facts come out, really no one has much of an idea on what was going on between these two.

We all know the NRA will be okay with this tragedy. It was their dream scenario - everyone involved was armed; what could possibly go wrong??
