A standing-room-only crowd came to hear former Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin speak Tuesday night.

The Outlaw Inn event, sponsored by the Flathead Liberty Bell group, was the first public speech Baldwin has made since moving to the Flathead Valley from Pensacola, Fla., late last year.

Where is Not Really, montanaeasy56 and all of the other naysayers now? Now that their Bill of Rights has been destroyed. Now that 30,000 drones are to be unleashed on American citizens. Now that the feds are confiscating our guns. Did your Pastors take a public stand against all of this tyranny? Chuck Baldwin did.

And just last month, did anyone spot these guys at Cliven Bundy’s Nevada? Were these guys in the federal snipers’ scopes? No, but Chuck Baldwin was.

I’m reminded by one of Chuck Baldwin’s favorite quotations: "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams Philadelphia State House, August 1, 1776

A a retired officer, I appreciate Dr. Baldwin and his message. I wish I could be in that beautiful state with you. Maybe some of the people above should learn about the corporation of America and learn about the individual rights they have lost since Bush Senior was in office. Then read about the most important players in the revolution of the United States of America. You might not like to know it, but it was the pastors the rallied and lead the fledgling colonies into becoming a individual free country. Chuck and I are likely at odds with the belief that the founding fathers of this country were Christian, but he has that right to believe that even if untrue.
Might I suggest you attend his church and learn a little bit. You dont have to give to the church if you dont want to. I can be sure you wont be frowned upon if you chose not too. You have a great man in your midst, don't pass up hearing what he has to say.

            Thanks Chuck

I'm not interested in casting stones at folks, but there are some glaring errors in this passage:

Prior to Baldwin’s speech, the Liberty Bell presented awards to Columbia Falls High School student Demari DeReu and her attorney Sean Frampton. Frontier Guns of Evergreen gave DeReu a Savage Arms .308 rifle. DeReu was suspended late last year after she unwittingly left a rifle in the trunk of her car after a hunting trip and took it to school.

“Without the public pressure, Demari would’ve not gotten the right thing done,” Frampton said. Other students had similar incidents happen last year and got stiffer punishment, he said. DeReu ultimately was not expelled from school.

“The school systems in Montana are being dictated to by the National Education Association in Washington, D.C.,” Baldwin said.

Being very close to this situation, I'd just like to clarify a few things.

            1. Ms. DeRue, while being a fine, upstanding young woman, was totally aware of the rules(laws) surrounding the possession of a firearm on school property. There has been at least one similar instance of student possession every year at the high school since I can remember. I would suggest that she, and all other students:
            a. know where your firearm(s) are at all times (seems silly to have to tell someone this)
            b. do not bring them to school.
            c. if you choose to ignore the law, don't blame someone else when the consequences come around.

            2. Mr. Frampton is being disingenuous at best when he states: “Without the public pressure, Demari would’ve not gotten the right thing done,” Frampton said. Other students had similar incidents happen last year and got stiffer punishment, he said. DeReu ultimately was not expelled from school.

The "other students" referred to did NOT recieve substantially stiffer punishment, even though it was their second offense. Additionally, no student to my knowledge has been expelled for a similar infraction in at least the last seven years. The CFHS school board has done the right thing each and every time. "Public pressure" had nothing to do with it, although Messrs. Baldwin, Frampton and Marbut managed to make some political hay out of it.

            3. Finally, this: “The school systems in Montana are being dictated to by the National Education Association in Washington, D.C.,” Baldwin said.

This is more even disingenuous than the last. The Gun Free Schools Act is Federal law, something that CFHS CANNOT ignore. The NEA has NOTHING to do with it.

If you're going to stay in Montana, it would be best to be honest and forthright about your statements, Mr. Baldwin and Mr. Frampton. Montanans, at least the REAL ones I know, prefer the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but.....

Chuck Baldwin should decide if he is "called" to be a preacher of the Gospel or "called" to be a politician. What is his base motivation for starting a new church at the Red Lion?
Is it to garner attention and support to run for Montana Governor?
Why not stay in Florida where he is known and run for a political office?
            He is not a Montanan!

Mr. Baldwin is voicing what many people are thinking.
I'll bet that he would have gotten along well with George Washington.
Certainly the globalists don't / won't like him.

This idiot's got a problem coming here to stir up trouble.

The rest of the nation is toning down the rhetoric, yet the Daily Interflake fans the flames.

Ronbo, I dont think that you "got" the point that I was trying to make. I was defending Chuck Baldwin's right to speak, and saying that at least he was not like that fear mongoring local preacher Daryl Kistler who stands on the sidewalk with a bullhorn, screaming about things he knows nothing about.

I wasn't aware that Baldwin was a race baiting poverty pimp like Jackson and Sharpton. Thanks for the update.

If one man has the wisdom and the fortitude to turn this country around, it is the man, Chuck Baldwin. I joined the freedom movement during the phony energy crisis of 1973 & 74 and have been active ever since. In all that time Chuck is the wisest man I have ever met!! I just drove 2500 miles round trip to secure a new home in Montana. The highlight of the entire trip was hearing Chuck Baldwin. I am moving there because of him and I will do everything and anything to help him save this country!!! Only Chuck understands what it's going to take to save America from total tyranny. God bless him; God Bless America and God give us more Chuck Baldwins!!

Forget the messenger, but look at the message. Can anyone deny that our federal government is out of conrol and needs reining in? Look at what health care legislation has done to peoples current insurance policies...look at what S510 can do to small organic farmers...meanwhile the federal government approves GMO crops that degrade the health of our population daily. What hypocrites!!! The states are better able to deal with issues on a local level. What about wolves and Grizzly bears, don't we Montanans know better what should be done on these issues than beauracrats in Washington!? Maybe states should be in control of themselves!

For what it's worth, I attended the event on Tuesday night and I think this article is a fair report of the contents of Dr. Baldwin's presentation.

I wish I had time for a few of questions:

            1. Had you been elected in 2008, what would you have done in the Oval Office for the past two years? What would a Charles Baldwin presidency look like?

            2. At what point in our country's history would you say we "had it right" and had the proper balance between state and federal governing? How long have we been "going the wrong way"? It has to be longer than the 40 years or so cited in the presentation.

I ask these questions sincerely and hope that Dr. Baldwin may address them in an editorial some time.

I wish I could have been there. We need people like Baldwin who are not afraid to speak their mind. Most people are too afraid to do anything. Most people cannot even begin to understand what is going on in this country. And my daughter who is a senior here in town lets me know that her teacher needs her to not believe in free speech really. It's so painful when we see the schools protect our children from free thought and free speech but in reality that's what they are for. And I don't care if Baldwin is a Christian just as long as he isn't another creepy follower of the system.

' “We have more to fear from Washington, D.C., than we do Baghdad or Tehran. '

Somebody get this idiot off the stage.

I cannot believe the insensitivity of this unholy man at a time like this.

I was at the meeting on Tuesday night. Dr. Baldwin is a great speaker and I beleive his message. My question is, what was his point, other then informing the public? I left the meeting thinking...and then what?
