Avery medalist, Glacier boys win Butte Invite
FAIRMONT HOT SPRINGS — Tyler Avery fired a second-round 68 to overtake Butte’s Jack Prigge for medalist honors, and Glacier won the boys team title at the Butte Invitational golf meet Thursday.
Avery’s two-day total was 142; he trailed Prigge by three strokes entering Thursday’s round at the Fairmont course.
Teammate Trevor Cunningham was ninth after shooting back-to-back 82s; Tanyon Murray closed with an 83 for the Wolfpack, which edged Butte by two strokes with a total of 639..
Flathead finished fourth in the boys team race, and Tyler Wiliams was third in the individual competition with a total of 154.
On the girls’ side, Glacier’s Chloe Tanner ended up in a tie for first and lost medalist honors to Anna Stensrud of Missoula Hellgate via scorecard playoff. Both shot 170.
Glacier was fourth out of seven girls teams, and Flathead — led by Ladahlia Hook’s two-day total of 218 — was sixth.
