Pack sweeps crosstown

Glacier swept Flathead in crosstown tennis Thursday at FVCC, the last competition before Northern AA Divisionals next week.
The Wolfpack boys won 8-0, and the girls 6-2 over the Bravettes.
Both schools were missing a few players because of injury or International Baccalaureate testing, but the atmosphere was competitive as it usually is during a crosstown competition. The weather cooperated too – temperatures were in the low 60s with a light breeze and mostly sunny skies.
Glacier’s Will Rudbach and Flathead’s Kutuk White played the longest match of the day at No. 1 boys singles. The match went to three sets, including a tiebreaker in the first set, but Rudbach prevailed 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-3.
In doubles, pairs Alex Galloway/Timmy Glanville and Ethan Woods/Trey Engellant were victorious, and Harrison Sanders also won in singles.
The Glacier girls were strong at doubles, with pairs Haven Speer/Sarah Downs and Katy Bitney/Colette Daniels earning victories.
Flathead’s Alexis Kersten won at No. 1 singles, besting Glacier’s Naomi Jutzi, and Isabella Parrott also won, defeating Amber Ramirez of Glacier in two sets.
Tyla Nelson and Quindy Gronley were other Glacier singles winners.
The Northern AA Divisional is Friday, May 20, through Saturday, May 21 in Great Falls. The State AA tournament is May 26-28 in Bozeman.
Glacier’s boys and girls also swept the first crosstown meeting with Flathead on April 14. The boys won 8-0 and the girls 5-3.
