The Hilton Garden Inn, which boasts Kalispell’s largest conference center, has contracted a local business to reinvigorate the hotel’s space.

Based in Kalispell, InnSpace, is a turnkey hotel renovation company that provides comprehensive services to clients from design, procurement, and construction.

“We present ourselves as every profession and service that's required to run your hotel. We have interior designers, a procurement team, and a full construction team so we perform our projects as the general contractor,” said Russell Markham, director of brand relations at InnSpace.

While the company, which also includes locations in Seattle and Denver, partners with big name hoteliers all over the country such as the Hyatt, Marriott, and IHG, the team at InnSpace expressed their excitement at being able to provide services for their local community.

“We’re excited to actually have a project here. We don’t have many of those so it's great to be able to work on a project that is right here in our backyard,” said Markham.

The conference center includes 14,000 square feet of flexible event space, with high ceilings, natural light, and 11 meeting rooms, the largest of which measures 8,550 square feet. The conference center is set to receive a new audio and visual component which Markham said will make the space “cutting edge.”

“I'm really excited about how the community will be able to use that space and find it much more up-to-date. People are very excited to see what it will look like.” Markham said. “The new owners plan to reopen the restaurant and we've only heard positivity about that.”

Renovations to the conference center, meeting rooms, guest rooms, and restaurant began in September of 2022, and the team confirmed that they are on track to finish by May of 2023. InnSpace’s preconstruction manager, Andrew Hales, explained that their comprehensive services and in-house teams allow the company to streamline and accelerate its process.

“Traditionally, this kind of project would be finished in July or August, but the owner came to us and said that he wanted it finished before summer since that's the high revenue season. It's a pretty aggressive schedule and we have a lot of crews out there. It's exciting to see that we are able to get that project done on time and to showcase our methodology,” said Hales.

According to the team at InnSpace, hotels rarely shut down during renovations, adding an element of challenge to the renovation process.

Markham described the “heavy logistics” that are required to work within a hotel’s pre-existing conditions.

“Renovating a hotel is quite different from building a new hotel in the sense that you're working with occupied space,” explained Markham. “We have to deal with the confines of the space as they are, rather than being able to invent those from scratch. InnSpace takes a creative approach to renovations since hotels must continue operations during this time.”

The team at InnSpace said that their collaboration with the new owners of the hotel, the Veridea Group, has been “refreshing.” The Veridea Group acquired the Hilton Garden Inn in February.
