Columbia Falls wins twice; Loggers shut out Eureka

LEWISTOWN — Aspen Dawson hit a go-ahead RBI single and Columbia Falls scored five runs in the fifth inning to beat Havre 8-4 at the Lewistown Round-Robin softball tournament Saturday.

The win capped a 4-0 weekend for the Wildkats (6-1), including a 19-2 victory over Glendive earlier Saturday.

The Wildkats sent 10 hitters to the plate and got doubles from Haden Peters and Kylee Stacy in the pivotal fifth inning. Stacy’s drive brought in two runs and put Columbia Falls up 7-4; Kyrah Lingle scored the game’s final run on a wild pitch.

Maddie Moultray threw all five innings, scattering eight hits and a walk. She fanned 10.

Moultray went 4-for-4 with a double and homer and drove in four runs, while Abbie Darsow and Kyrah Trenkle each homered in a game that lasted just three innings.

Moultry singled and homered in the Kats’ 14-run first inning and Trenkle hit a 3-run home run, then doubled in the first as well. Darsow’s 3-run shot put the Wildkats up 9-0; she finished a double short of the cycle.

Haden Peters had three hits, as did Aspen Dawson. Dawson had a triple, drove in two and scored three runs; Mann, Peters and Moultray also scored three times.

EUREKA — Taylor Munro threw a 5-inning shutout and drove in three runs as Libby made short work of non-conference foe Eureka Saturday.

Destiny Crawford 2-run double in the second inning, when the Class A Loggers (2-2) scored all the runs they would need.

Munro two singles in Libby’s 7-run third inning, with her second driving in two runs and putting her team ahead 11-0. On the bump she allowed just three hits and no walks; she fanned four.

Paislee MacDonald also doubled and drove in three runs, while Courtney Benson had three hits. Crawford, MacDonald, Benson, Kinzee Moehmier and Sidney Rusdal each scored twice.
