Whitefish Chamber leads Christmas 'shopping spree'

| December 2, 2020 12:00 AM

The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce’s “Christmas Tree Shopping Spree” will run through Dec. 11.

The Chamber hopes the event will support local businesses and give shoppers a chance to earn extra gifts.

“The Christmas Tree Shopping Spree is an expansion of the popular Shopper’s Drawings we do each year during the Christmas Stroll,” said Kevin Gartland, executive director of the Whitefish Chamber. “We can’t do the Stroll this year for obvious reasons, but we’re still hoping folks will turn out to support our local businesses … our friends and neighbors. That’s what ‘shopping small … and local’ is all about.”

For every $20 spent at participating Whitefish businesses, shoppers will earn a raffle ticket and a chance to win one or more of the prize packages beneath eight Christmas trees sponsored by local businesses. Worth $500 or more, the prizes have been contributed by Whitefish Mountain Resort, Park Side Credit Union, the Montana Wilderness Association, Alpine Apothecary, Glacier Bank, The Village Shop, Stumptown Art Studio, Sappari Gallery and the Whitefish Credit Union.

Customers must bring their paper receipts to the Chamber offices, located at 505 Second St. E. in Whitefish, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, to claim their raffle tickets and enter them in the drawing for the “Christmas Tree” of their choice. Two prize packages will be raffled off each day Dec. 8-11, so earlier shoppers have a better chance of winning prizes.
