WHITEFISH - Tiegan Avery and Cody Sherrill, both of Kalispell, Erin Tabish of Whitefish and Ryggs Johnston of Libby were age-division winners on a rainy Monday at the District 1 Junior Tournament Qualifier at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.

Avery shot 84 to win girls 13-Under, Sherrill shot 78 to win boys 14-15, Tabish carded a 91 to finish first in girls 14-15, and 11-year-old Johnston shot a 2-over 74 to place first in boys 13-Under.

Whitefish's Reed Platke and Tom Swanson of Missoula both carded 3-under 69s to tie for first place in 16-17. Swanson dropped a birdie putt on the third playoff hole to finish first.

Ryan Porch of Kalispell was third with a 71.

The event was sponsored by the Montana State Golf Association.

Up next for District 1 participants is the state tournament in Shelby at Marias Valley on June 20-21.

The top four scores from the state event for both boys and girls qualify to represent Montana in the prestigious Junior America's Cup in August, while the top two in each age division for both boys and girls qualify to represent Montana in the annual Montana-Alberta Cup held in Lethbridge, Alberta, in August.
