Flathead girls fall to Sentinel

Missoula Sentinel jumped on Flathead early, leading 30-8 at the half en route to a 51-34 Western AA girls basketball victory on Thursday at Flathead High School.

The Bravettes did rebound in the second half, outscoring Sentinel 26-21.

Sentinel was led by Liz Harper's 13 points.

Flathead had three players lead the way with six points - Emma Andrews, Tess Brenneman and Jenessa Heine.

LIBBY - Jaime Gilden scored 22 points and Logan Best added 11 as Libby cruised to an easy nonconference win over Troy.

Gilden scored nine of Libby's 14-first quarter points as the Loggers enjoyed a 12-point edge.

Gilden tallied 11 of Libby's 19 points in the third period.

MISSOULA - Jay Owens hit three treys down the stretch to help Missoula Big Sky down Glacier in a Western AA matchup.

Big Sky, held to just four points in the third period, outscored Falthead 23-19 in the final frame.

Owens finished with 19 points to lead all scorers.

Bryan Chery had 14 and Trey Griffith 12 for Glacier.

LIBBY - A slow start did not end on a bad note for the Libby boys basketball team.

The Loggers, down 6-4 after the first period, battled back to claim a 34-26 nonconference victory over Lincoln County rival Troy on Thursday evening.

James Hare led Libby, and all scorers, with 12 points.

Cory Orr tallied 13 points for Troy.
