Anton T. 'Tony' Stempin, 89

Anton T. "Tony" Stempin, 89, of Columbia Falls, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.

He was born Jan. 19, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Anton and Mary Stempin.

Tony served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

He was married to Doris L. Smith on June 10, 1944, in Bremerton, Wash.

Tony worked on the construction of the Hungry Horse Dam and retired from the aluminum plant.

He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Columbia Falls; his children, Gary Stempin, Judy Stewart, Mitch Stempin, and Robin Stempin; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside committal with be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Bigfork with military graveside honors.

He was especially proud of his Marine Corps service. The family has suggested that memorials be made to the Toys For Tots, USMCR, 41 Fourth St. W., Kalispell, MT 59901.
