A rare albino bear cub was spotted pulling garbage toward the Flathead River near Columbia Falls late Monday evening, the Flathead County Sheriff's Office said.

Three albino bear cubs have been shot in northwestern Montana in the past 24 years.

Partial albino cubs usually grow up to live normal life spans. However, true albino cubs have pink eyes and noses and usually go blind within a year. They usually die young because they cannot find food nor hide from predators.

In other ursine news, bears got into some bee boxes on Deerfoot Trail Monday afternoon.

The Monday death of a man in his 40s in Somers is being investigated as a possible drug overdose.
