Krause, Iverson lead 'Dogs, Braves

BUTTE - Whitefish and Flathead had the top two finishers in boys individual play Friday at the Butte Invitational golf tournament.
Kam Krause of Whitefish used a 2-under-par 70 to finish first, four shots ahead of Flathead's Larry Iverson at the Butte Country Club.
The two-day tournament was reduced to 18 holes after Thursday's session was called off because of hail at Anaconda's Old Works Golf Course.
Whitefish competed in the rain-shortened Bigfork Invitational on Thursday, which had Krause medaling at that event with a 36.
Whitefish wanted to compete in this invitational on Friday because the Class A state meet will also take place at the Butte Country Club.
"It sounded like one of those rounds where he could have been in the 60s," said FHS coach Alice Ritzman of Iverson.
"He missed a lot of short putts."
It was Iverson's first meet back since injuring his wrist.
Whitefish had another top 10 finisher in Tyler Holtet. He shot 76, which tied him for fifth with six other golfers.
Whitefish and Flathead tied for fourth place in the team standings with 314 totals.
"We're nine shots (off the pace)," said FHS coach Alice Ritzman.
"We're right there."
Flathead has one meet remaining before state - the Flatfish Invitational Friday and Saturday. State is Oct. 6-7 in Missoula.
Also for the FHS boys in Butte, Connor Tanberg shot a 77.
Tanberg finished 12th.
"He's been consistent (this fall)," said Ritzman.
"He's been in the top 20 (before)."
For the girls, Whitefish finished sixth, 373, with Flathead 10th, 407.
Chelsea Ray of Whitefish shot an 87, which tied her for fifth place with three others. Teammate Breanna Cameron shot 93.
Karli Aurich had a 95 to pace the Bravettes; Brooke Sampson was next at 100.
"First time she's been low (team scorer)," said Ritzman of Aurich.
"She's capable of more, just like they all are. For a freshman, she (Aurich) definitely has potential."
