Crash takes second life

A woman died Friday from injuries in a Sept. 2 motorcycle accident in Whitefish.

Kelly Stevenson, 37, was injured in the accident that killed driver Brian Jones, 39, of Sammamish, Wash. Stevenson, formerly of Whitefish and living in Spokane, had reportedly met Jones at the Great Northern Bar and agreed to go for a ride on his bike.

The motorcycle was headed west on East Edgewood Drive at a little after 3 a.m. when it crashed.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. ALERT helicopter flew Stevenson to Kalispell Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead Friday. Neither was wearing a helmet, according to Flathead County Deputy Coroner Jim Browder. He said Stevenson died of head injuries. Her organs were reportedly donated.

Browder said speed was a factor in the crash.

Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
