What a way to get the first night of Northwestern A games off: No. 1 against No. 2

Both teams are 2-0.

Polson running backs Bryce Picard and Ted Morigeau are tops in the league in yards per carry. Picard averages 9.2 yards per carry and has 147 yards on the year. Morigeau averages 8.0 ypc and has 129 yards plus seven receptions for another 110 yards. Teammate Pat Dellwo has rushed for 127 yards.

Libby's Jake Graham has 125 yards rushing on the year and Josh Chumley has 94. Quarterbacks Joel Fuller and Kyle Baker have combined to throw for 164 yards. Steve Bertelson has three interceptions.

Bigfork at Whitefish, 7 p.m.

Whitefish is 2-0; Bigfork is 0-1.

The Bulldogs are led by senior running back Luke Fennelly, who leads the conference with 296 rushing yards. Senior quarterback Zach Fennelly has completed 12 of 25 passes for 131 yards.

The Vikings are led by sophomore quarterback Dustin Haynes, who leads the league in passing yards after just one game. He is 12-for-32 for 237 yards. Junior wide receiver Justin Goode is the favorite target. He has seven catches for 144 yards and a touchdown.

Ronan at C-Falls, 7 p.m.

Columbia Falls is looking to rebound from last weekend's heartwrencher against the Blackfeet against another reservation team - this time, the Salish.

The Chiefs are 0-2, but have the league's No. 2 running back in Tylar Espinoza. He has 226 yards on seven yards per carry.

The Wildcats are led by running backs Josh Wilson and Scott Palmer. Palmer, a junior, has 132 rushing yards. Wilson, a sophomore, has 91 in one game. Quarterback Michael Hader has completed nine of 18 passes for 113 yards. Senior receiver Mackey Nolan has three catches for 58 yards.

Eureka at Frenchtown, 7 p.m.

Back into Montana's Class A ranks after pummelling a Canadian team last week, the Lions get last year's state runners-up.

Eureka is led by senior quarterback Zach Richter (14-for-26 for 209 yards and three touchdowns) and senior receiver Ian Linnell. Linnell leads the league with eight receptions for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Travis Harrell has three catches for 58 yards and a touchdown and Clete DeShazer has another touchdown.

Frenchtown is led by senior quarterback Nate Lebsock and senior linebacker Nick Weller.

Both teams are 1-1 on the season.
