Northwest Montana could be in for some volatile swings in the weather during the next few days.

Those who were surprised to see snow on the mountaintops Thursday afternoon might have been more surprised to wake up to this morning's chill.

The National Weather Service was forecasting "near record low temperatures" in the 30s overnight Thursday.

But when you uncover your tomatoes, good growing weather will return.

Rapid warming is expected during the weekend: highs of 87 or 88 degrees Saturday and Sunday, with record high temperatures possible by Monday.

At the very least, temperatures are expected to be from 10 to 15 degrees above normal from Monday through Wednesday.
