Pastor Gerald Curtis Schulze, 73

Pastor Gerald Curtis Schulze, 73, passed away Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Brendan House in Kalispell due to complications of Parkinson's disease.

He was born July 5, 1933, in Brookings, S.D., to George F. and Anna Hummel Schulze. He was raised in Ivanhoe, Minn., and Kalispell. He attended schools in Minnesota and Montana, graduating from Flathead High School.

He attended Walla Walla College, where he earned his B.A. in theology. Gerald served in the U.S. Army in Germany, where he was a member of the United States Marksmanship Team. He received two General Commendations.

He married Genevieve Warkins on Feb. 14, 1953, in Kalispell.

Gerald worked as a minister for the Seventh-day Adventist Church for 34 years in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and Montana. He participated in the Mission Endeavor Operation Bear Hug in Ivanovo, Russia. He loved golf and was a former partner in the Village Greens Golf Course. He was a farm boy at heart, which made him a 'jack of all trades and master of none.' He liked woodworking, tinkering with his Cadillac, traveling and just going for drives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Schulze, and a son, Monte Ross Schulze.

He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Schulze, of Columbia Falls; daughters, Roxanna and her husband, Brent Menish, Melinda Schulze and Melanie Schulze; brothers and sisters, George and his wife, Elaine Schulze, Roger and his wife, Renate' Schulze, Debra and her husband, Randy Wallette, and Elmer and his wife, Monica Schulze; grandchildren, Melina Fifield, Stephon Schulze, Laurel Howell, Magon Menish-Golie; other relatives, Lyman and Myrna Warkins, uncle William Hummel, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 10, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1375 U.S. 93 N., in Kalispell. Burial will be afterward at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
