Kenneth 'Kenny' Allen Kinniburgh, 68

Kenneth "Kenny" Allen Kinniburgh, 68, passed away Friday, May 12, 2006, at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center due to complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, and sudden-onset leukemia.

Kenny was born Jan. 10, 1938, in Fort Peck to James A. and Elva "Todd" (Johnson) Kinniburgh.

The family moved to Marion in 1939. Kenny attended schools in Marion and at Flathead High. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in December 1957 with his buddy Johnny Oftedahl, spending two years in Hawaii. He was honorably discharged in January 1960.

He then returned to Marion, where he worked in the logging industry with his dad and uncles, and at Superior Building in Columbia Falls.

Kenny moved to California in March 1966 where he operated a filling station with his cousin. He married Arlette Johnson of Kalispell on June 28, 1966, at Angeles Chapel in Anaheim. He then returned to Kalispell in May 1967, where he remained ever since. In 1970, he began working at the aluminum plant in Columbia Falls, retiring in January 1999.

Kenny enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, camping, woodworking, chopping firewood and was considered the huckleberry-picking king of the Flathead by his family.

Kenny was preceded in death by his dad in 1965; a brother, Jim, in 1999; and his stepfather, David Miller, in March 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Arlette Kinniburgh, of Kalispell; his mother, Elva "Todd" Kinniburgh-Miller, of Kalispell; one brother, Robert Kinniburgh, and wife, Robbi, of Kalispell; a sister, Betty Jenkins, and husband, Bob, of Kalispell; one sister-in-law, Barbara Kinniburgh, of Kalispell, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Kenny will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Brenda Wills officiating. Burial will be afterward at Glacier Memorial Gardens, with military honors by the United Veterans of the Flathead.

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the Johnson Mortuary.
