Kalispell has received one proposal to buy and build on the old Montana National Guard Armory site on the south side of town.

City staff is evaluating that proposal, which was the only one received by Friday's deadline, City Manager Jim Patrick told the Kalispell City Council on Monday.

The city is scheduled to assume ownership of the 3.5-acre site after National Guard equipment is removed.

If that proposal does not pass the city staff's scrutiny and later the council's review, new proposals will be sought.

The council had planned to map out goals Monday for the 2006-2007 fiscal year, which begins July 1.

But only five of the nine council members were present, and the council decided to postpone the discussion until more members were available.

Council members Jim Atkinson and Kari Gabriel were ill. Bob Herron was out of town.

Bob Hafferman was with his wife, who is recovering from surgery.
