Harold Joe Johnson, 76

Harold Joe Johnson, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell.

Harold was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Kalispell to Oscar J. and Edith F. (Curtis) Johnson. He attended grade school in Kalispell.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean conflict. Harold received numerous medals and honors while in the Army, including a Purple Heart, Korean Service medal and a Korean Presidential Unit citation.

After returning to Kalispell, Harold worked for the Kalispell Police Department, had operated a service station for several years, then worked as the desk clerk and night manager at the Kalispell Hotel until he retired. He also served for many years in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Ronald Johnson; and one sister, Peg Johnson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elisa, of Kalispell; sister, Nada Dunkin, of Kalispell; a brother, Thomas Johnson, of Contact, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be truly missed by all who knew him along with his stories of the "Old Kalispell" and his Army days.

Graveside urn burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, with the United Veterans of the Flathead Valley conducting military honors.
