The legendary Rolling Stones have confirmed they will perform Oct. 6 at the Wasington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula, setting the stage for what's expected to be the biggest concert in state history.

The band, in its 44th year, has never played in Montana.

University of Montana officials were "thrilled" with the Tuesday announcement that Missoula would be part of the second North American leg of the "Bigger Bang" tour.

Ticket-sale details have not been released.

There will be no "presale" ticket offering for the Missoula show, and there will be a limit of 12 a person. Sales will be coordinated through Ticketmaster.

The band is performing in Europe and opens its return to North America with a concert Sept. 20 in Boston.

The concert has been scheduled during the Griz football season, but the team will be playing at Eastern Washington on the Oct. 6 weekend.

The Rolling Stones also plan shows Oct. 8 in Regina, Sasketchewan, Nov. 14 in Boise, Idaho, Oct. 17 in Seattle, and Nov. 3 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
