Swan Lake areas open for firewood

The following roads on the Swan Lake District of Flathead National Forest are open until Sept. 15 for firewood gathering:

. Forest roads 2960, 2823 and 2999 in the Patrick Creek Drainage.

. Forest Road 2898 in the Stoner Creek Area (slash piles from recent logging).

. Forest roads 9514, 9507, 9501 and 9508 in the Swan Lake area.

Firewood cutting is allowed for personal use; anyone cutting wood must have a valid permit.

Permits are available from any Forest Service office for $5 per cord, minimum two cords.

Woodcutters are encouraged to use caution when cutting from large slash piles to ensure the stability of what is being cut.
