William W. Hart, 81

William W. Hart, 81, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at his residence in Bigfork.

He was born on July 23, 1924, at Agar, S.D., the son of William A. and Florence Faye (Currier) Hart.

He was educated in Milwaukee, Wis., and entered the U.S. Army on Oct. 28, 1942, at Butte, and served in the South Pacific. He was injured in battle and returned to the United States in June 1944 and was a patient at McCaw General Hospital in Walla Walla, Wash., for three months to heal from the injuries.

On Feb. 13, 1947, he was united in marriage to Janice Pattison in Billings. In September 1951, they moved back to Milwaukee, where he worked as a steamfitter. He and Janice raised three children and after 39 years, they retired and moved back home to Montana. They moved to Bigfork in 1990. There he spent much time rebuilding old cars and engines in his garage. He also built model airplanes and clocks.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Bigfork and a retired member of the Steamfitters Local 601 of Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Mavis Hart and Eleanor M. Brovold; and a brother, Howard M. Hart.

He is survived by his wife, Janice, of Bigfork; his children, Donna Jean McQueen and husband, Kenneth, of Thompson Falls, William S. Hart and Daniel P. Hart, both of Hartford, Wis. and Steven D. Hart of Germantown, Wis.; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
