James Arthur 'Jim' Gilbertson, 69

James Arthur "Jim" Gilbertson, 69, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at his home in Kalispell. He was born Jan. 9, 1937, in Kalispell to Elmer and Helen (Iverson) Gilbertson.

Jim received his early education in Kalispell, graduating from Flathead County High School. He then joined the Navy and served his country during World War II. Upon his return, Jim landed in Seattle and went to work for the railroad. He traveled with the railroad all across the country, eventually retiring in 1994 back in Kalispell.

Jim married Donnel Foss in 1963, and together they had one son, Jim. They later were divorced.

Jim was very musically talented. He played the trombone throughout high school and then with the Navy band. He also took up the guitar and enjoyed playing music from all time periods, but mostly from the pre-'60s.

Jim also loved working on older vehicles and was a member of the Glacier Street Rod Association. Jim enjoyed fishing and was getting more involved in golfing in the past few years. He was also very active in the Eagles.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.

He is survived by his son, Jim Jumper, and wife, Vickie, and their children, Cassie and Jimmy, all of Marion.

Memorial services for Jim will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Eagles, 37 First St. W., in Kalispell.
