David Joseph Berger, 90

David Joseph Berger, 90, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1915, at Browning, the oldest of four children of Benjamin S. and Lena (Norman) Berger. He attended schools and graduated from Browning High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre.

Following his discharge, he returned to Kalispell where he worked at numerous jobs including carpenter, welder and was also bookkeeper for Kirkpatrick Brothers for many years. He then began a career as a postal carrier for the U.S. Post Office for which he worked for the next 21 years until his retirement.

David loved the great outdoors that the area provided. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and hiking. He also enjoyed a lifetime love of motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Charles and Lawrence Berger.

He is survived by a sister, Grace Aahl of Seattle; an aunt, Thelma Kleppen of Kalispell; cousin, Freddie Kirkpatrick and wife, Bonnie, of Kalispell; and nieces and nephews, Steve Aahl and his wife, Susan, Nancy Morrison and husband, Dan, all of Seattle, Delores Wickenhagen of Bremerton, Wash., and Charles Berger Jr. of Missoula,. He is also survived by his longtime personal friend, Ellen Brinkenhoff, of Kalispell.

Graveside services for David will be private by the family. There will be no visitation.
