FOOTBALL: Turner, Brenden among postseason honorees for Glacier

Just as they did all year on the field, Drew Turner and Jared Brenden led the way when Glacier football doled out its postseason awards this week.

Turner and Brenden were voted offensive and defensive MVPs, respectively, by their teammates and took home two additional awards each.

A 6-foot, 207-pound senior running back, Turner set a school record with 1,666 rushing yards in just nine games. The Montana commit fell just short of averaging eight yards per carry and scored 23 touchdowns on the ground.

Brenden, a senior linebacker, finished third on the team with 88 total tackles, including five tackles for loss. He also notched four pass breakups, four quarterback hurries, a sack and an interception.

Jackson Pepe was voted special teams MVP after returning eight kickoffs for an average of 25.6 yards and three punts for an average of 14.7 yards.

In addition to offensive MVP, Turner took home the “Alpha-Dog” award and was the team’s High Point Letter Winner. Brenden was also named weight room MVP and received the “Wolf” award.

Quarterback Evan Todd, who took over the starting job midseason and threw for 1,284 yards and 14 touchdowns, shared most-improved honors on the offensive side of the ball with lineman Garrett Lally. Garrett Frost was the most-inproved defender, as voted on by the coaches, finishing the year with 57 total tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups.
